What  is Youth Advocates?

Youth Advocates is a leadership program where youth are formally trained in community action planning, facilitation, presentation skills, and how to run and hold effective meetings. Youth develop action plans based on service gaps, determine needs and attempt to enhance current youth/community efforts. The program has existed since 1992! and works in collaboration with schools, city governments, local service agencies and grassroots efforts.

Who can participate?

Youth participants range from 12 to 20. All youth are welcome and academic standing is not a criterion for participation. Youth participants represent diverse ethnicities, peer groups, and personal life experiences. To become part of the youth advocates, a youth can attend regular meetings and the annual retreat
